Step 1. Before Reaching Out
Is a Golden Retriever right for you? Goldens are an active breed that thrive on structure, activity, and their family. Before getting on our waitlist, make sure you do your research and ensure they will fit your lifestyle. Consider their schedule, grooming needs, exercise, and cost when thinking about bringing a puppy home. Please reach out if you need more information or have questions about a Golden Retriever joining your family.
Step 2. Application
Ready to bring a puppy home? Please fill out our application! Make sure you fill out the entire form and be descriptive in what you are looking for. Please tell us about your family and your day to day life. Once your application is reviewed, we will reach out to schedule a phone call or video chat. Applications are reviewed as they are received and this may take a few days. We encourage you to place an application even if you are looking for a future litter or year. Our list fills quickly and we don’t often have puppies available immediately. Please note that we do not allow families to choose their puppy and instead match personalities to your individual lifestyles. Your application will aid in matching you to the perfect companion, sport, or prospect. Incomplete applications are not considered.
Step 3. Review Contract
After a call is completed and you are ready to move forward, we will send you our puppy contract to review. You do not need to sign anything until pick up day but we like to go ahead and review paperwork in case of questions and for expectations to be clear going forward.
Step 4. Deposit
Once the contract is reviewed, you are welcome to place a deposit. Our deposit is $500 non-refundable and will be applied to the final amount due by pick up day. You are not obligated to place a deposit until birth but your application will only remain on file for 5 days due to the high volume of inquires. After this, you will need to resubmit an application and place a deposit. Deposits are due 24 hours after birth. In the event that a dam does not get pregnant, your deposit will be moved to the next litter of your choice. You will have 3 opportunities to move your deposit before forfeiting. If something happens and you are not able to bring your puppy home you are more than welcome to move to a future litter but deposits are always non-refundable.
Step 5. Watch Your Pup Grow
Follow along on Facebook, good dog, and our private litter group to see your puppy and its littermates grow up. We will send out weekly pictures and will post pictures and videos on social media in between.
Step 6. Matching
We will begin matching puppies to their families after temperament testing on week 7. We like to match puppies to ensure a high energy pup does not go home with a family wanting a calmer puppy. We will reach out around week 6 to chat again about your preferences. Matching can take longer if we are evaluating for show homes. In this case you will be notified ahead of time to be prepared for a potential change in timeline. Evaluations for show prospects may be made from weeks 8-10 weeks of age.
Step 7. Go Home Day
We will send out dates for pick up ahead of time and will try to accommodate schedules as best as we can. Usually puppies will go home the weekend following 8 weeks of age but we are available for week day pick up. We will post information and send out personal texts on how to prepare for pick up day. This includes paperwork, items to bring, and more. This will also be when final payments are due. You are welcome to pay before or on pick up day but the balance must be paid in full before your puppy leaves. If you have a scheduling issue please reach out with plenty of notice so we can better assist you in bringing your puppy home. If you fail to notify us of changes or miss your pick up time, your deposit will be forfeited. Congratulations on your puppy!
Payments
We accept multiple forms of payment including cash, Zelle, Venmo, and Good Dog. Please note that applicants that have found us through Good Dog must complete payments on their platform in order to stay compliant with their guidelines. You will be responsible for paying their platform fees if you choose to use Good Dog. We do not accept other forms of payment.
